I use different PIMs on several computers, for example, Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. How can I keep my mobile device and all of my PIMs synchronized?
Cause
We do not recommend that you try this. PDAsync is designed to keep only two PIMs synchronized. For example, Microsoft Outlook and your mobile device, or Lotus Notes and your mobile device. Trying to synchronize with more than two PIMS will result in either lost data or large numbers of duplicate records. The greatest potential for error comes when PDAsync is forced to do a full synchronization because changes have been made to both the desktop PIM and the mobile device PIM. One PIM must be chosen as the most complete, over the other PIM. Combining PIMS may create duplicate records if there are only minor changes in the PIM entries.
Solution
Are there any alternative options? Yes. Make changes in only two of the PIMS. For example, Microsoft Outlook and the mobile device. Then when synchronizing to Lotus Notes, force a full synchronization and choose to copy the database from the mobile device, essentially overwriting the Lotus Notes PIM. Any changes that have been made to the Lotus Notes PIM will be lost. Here's how to do that: On the computer that has the second desktop PIM , for example, Lotus Notes:
- From the Windows Start menu, go to Programs and then PDAsync.
- Click the PDAsync Profile that synchronizes with Lotus Notes.
- Click Settings.
- On the General tab, click Force full synchronization.
- On the Conflicts tab, click Automatically resolve conflict.
- In the Use the record in field, click the PIM for your mobile device.
- Click Apply and OK.
