Windows does not properly load the USB driver and you cannot update it to work correctly.
Cause
Possible corruption in the USB files or registry entries.
Solution
Close your Laplink product, unplug the USB cable, and check Add/Remove Programs for a
Laplink USB Network
entry. If it is present, uninstall it. Otherwise, simply continue with these steps:
Delete any of the following files you find. They may not all be present.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\LLUSBFLT.SYS
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\NcBulk.SYS
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\NcGen.SYS
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\tsincusb.SYS
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\USBBC2.SYS
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\WINUSB.SYS
NOTE: For Windows 2000 and upgrade versions of Windows XP, they may be found in C:\WinNT…
instead of C:\WINDOWS…

Note: The automatic script below will attempt to remove all registry keys used by the Laplink USB cable drivers. This process may not report errors if a key cannot be deleted. If this process does not resolve the issue, you will need to follow the directions in the MANUAL REMOVAL OF REGISTRY KEYS .
AUTOMATIC REMOVAL OF REGISTRY KEYS
- Click on the link below that matches the Windows version of the host computer:
For computers running Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows NT , Click here .
For computers running Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, or Windows Vista , Click here . - Select Run or Open when prompted
- Click Yes to import the information into the registry
- Click Ok to the message that it has completed the import.
- Restart the computer
- Plug the USB cable back in.
- You should get the Found new hardware wizard. Click Next until it finishes.
- If it is unable to find a driver, then you will need to start this article over again, deleting the files again (if present) and using the MANUAL REMOVAL OF REGISTRY KEYS option to verify all the keys have been properly deleted.
MANUAL REMOVAL OF REGISTRY KEYS

NOTE: If you receive an error attempting to delete any of the registry keys in this article, see Technical Document 1055: Error deleting key
- From the Window Start menu, click Run , type REGEDIT and click OK .
- In the left pane, click on the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to SYSTEM .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to ControlSet001 .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to Control .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to Class .
- If present, click on {BC103702-DD72-406f-9B28-95C868337B59} , press the Delete Key on your keyboard, and then click on Yes to confirm deleting that key.
- If present, click on {5783FA00-010C-11D5-BE1A-000398237A08} , press the Delete Key on your keyboard, and then click on Yes to confirm deleting that key.
- Click on the minus sign (-) next to Class .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to DeviceClasses .
- If present, click on {1eb7cb03-60a9-4d28-934f-4abeeebd0019} , press the Delete Key on your keyboard, and then click on Yes to confirm deleting that key.
- Click on the minus sign (-) next to DeviceClasses .
- Click on the minus sign (-) next to Control .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to Enum .
- Click on the plus sign (+) next to USB .
- If present, delete any of the following entries by clicking on them so they are highlighted,
pressing the Delete Key on your keyboard, and then clicking on Yes to confirm deleting that key.

- Repeat steps 4 thru 18 for each entry of ControlSet002 , ControlSet003 , etc ; and for CurrentControlSet .
- Reboot the computer.
- Plug the USB cable back in.
- You should get the Found new hardware wizard. Click Next until it finishes.
