This article shows you how to access the Device Manager in Windows. Once you have access to it,
you will want to return to the the article that directed you here. You can do this using the Back
button or closing this window.
Please select the appropriate version of Windows:
Windows 95, 98 or Millennium
Windows 2000 and XP
Windows Vista and Windows 7
Note: Windows NT does not have a Device Manager.
For computers running Windows 95, 98 or Millennium (Me)
- Right-click My Computer, and click Properties.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Click View Devices by type.
- To see a list of devices in any category, click the plus sign (+) to expand the appropriate category.
For computers running Windows 2000 and XP
- Right-click
My Computer, and click
Manage.
(NOTE: You may need to click on Start and find the My Computer entry on the right side of the Start Menu.) - Click Device Manager in the left pane.
- To see a list of devices in any category, click the plus sign (+) to expand the appropriate category.
For computers running Windows Vista and Windows 7
- Click on Start button to display the Windows Start Menu.
- Right-click Computer on the right side of the Windows Start Menu, and click Manage.
- If prompted, click Continue on the User Account Control window.
- Click Device Manager in the left pane.
- To see a list of devices in any category, click the plus sign (+) to expand the appropriate category.
