Laplink Everywhere - FAQ's

I cannot establish a Remote Control 4 connection with my firewall running

Laplink Everywhere 4 uses local port 1080 to communicate internally between the remote control portion of the computer and the Laplink Everywhere portion that communicates with our servers. If this port is blocked, you will be able to connect to the computer using Laplink Everywhere, but will not be able to establish a Remote Control 4 connection. In order to remedy this problem, your firewall will need to be configured to allow traffic on port 1080.

The following screenshot shows the configuration screen for Symantec Firewall. You will need to remove 1080 from the list of blocked ports.

If you are unable to locate this option on your firewall application, please contact the manufacturer for assistance.
