Laplink Gold - FAQ's

QUESTION

How do I set up a Laplink Internet account?



ANSWER

NOTE: The steps in this FAQ must be done from the Host computer (the one you are attempting to connect to).

When you launch Laplink Gold 12 or newer, the following window will temporarily appear asking you if you want to register the computer with the Laplink Internet servers:

After clicking on Yes in that window, you should see the appropriate Laplink Internet account screen:

On this page, you can create a new Laplink Internet account or you can click on the link at the top (see red box) to assign this PC to an existing account. Using this Window, you can assign the computer to an existing Laplink Internet account or create a new one. Place a check in the "I already have a Laplink Internet account" box to assign the computer to an existing account or fill in the rest of the form to create a new account.








If you do not see the window asking you if you want to register the computer with the Laplink Internet servers, then either Laplink Internet is disabled, something is preventing the connection to the Laplink Internet servers, or the computer is already assigned to an account.

  1. In Laplink Gold, click on the Options menu and select Laplink Internet Options.
  2. If there is a check next to Allow Laplink Internet Connections, uncheck this option and click OK. Then open up the Laplink Internet Options window again and proceed to step 3.
  3. Place a check next to Allow Laplink Internet Connections and click OK.
  4. You should now get the window mentioned at the beginning of this FAQ.

In Laplink Gold, click on Help -> About. If the computer is already assigned to a Laplink Internet account, then it will show the Laplink Internet username on this screen. Log into that account to access the computer.
