PCmover Enterprise Tutorial: Setting up Directory Filters
Overview: The PCmover Client will normally transfer all files in all folders (except temporary folders) from the old PC to the corresponding location on the new PC. However, PCmover will never overwrite any files that are already on the target PC. The Directory Filter screen allows the user to choose certain directories that should not migrate. Directories that you may not want to migrate include:
• Backup Storage Locations
• Data directories for applications you are not migrating
• Data directories for applications you are not migrating
Tutorial: This tutorial is designed to provide you with a step by step guide to filter directory paths from transferring to the new PC.
- Open the PCmover Enterprise Policy Manager and navigate to the policy file you wish to modify (default policy file is MasterPoilcy.pol).
- Select the “Directory Filter” tab
- Choose the “Add” button and enter the location or path that you do not want migrated to the target PC.
- Choose whether you want the PCmover user to modify this filter and whether or not it should transfer to the new PC.
- Go to File -> Save to update your policy file.
